The ZPTC members as usual did not get any chance to speak GUNTUR: Zilla Parishad of Guntur district has introduced a Rs.193.21 crore budget for 2008-09 financial and also discussed the modified budget of 2007-08 for ratification, but could not complete it due to bloomers in that. While the members of the Zilla Parishad were shocked to get a copy of the revised budget of 2007-08 for Rs.410 crore that showed an allocation of Rs.200 crore for Rural Water Supply, it was withdrawn amidst protests from MLAs, MLCs on its genuineness. The ZPTC members as usual did not get any chance to speak at the meeting as the whole budget meeting was dominated by the speeches and observations of MLCs and MLAs, who strongly opposed the lack of concentration by the Accounts Officer of the ZP in preparing the budget. The Zilla Parishad Chairperson Kuchipudi Vijaya said that the error would be corrected and re-introduced before the general body later. In the next year’s budget 30 per cent was allocated for administrative expenses, 15 per cent for women and child welfare, 15 per cent for the Scheduled Caste and 6 per cent for STs. Confusion prevailed at the end of the meeting and it could not be ratified due to lack of discussion.
