Fire fighting techniques displayed

DRILL: A demonstration on carrying injured persons in Tuticorin on Saturday.

Tuticorin: Inspector General of Police G.T. Radhakrishnan inaugurated Home Guards Day in the district here on Saturday.

Home Guards men, along with school students, demonstrated fire fighting and rescue techniques. The exercise started with a display of fire extinguishing techniques.

It was followed by a drill, which showed how a person was saved from a room filled with smoke. Procedures that needed to be followed to put a bandage over a fractured forearm and palm were shown.

Different methods of carrying injured persons from the site of accident were elaborately demonstrated. The use of sliding stretcher to remove an injured person from multi-storied buildings was explained with mock drills.

Superintendent of Police Deepak Motibhai Damor, Commandant of CISF S. N. Malhotra and Area Commander of Home Guards M. Salai Bajavannan, were present among others.
