Telecom staff stage stir

TUTICORIN: Telecom employees affiliated to BSNL Employees Union, Federation of National Telecom Organizations (FNTO) and Telecom Employees Progressive Union (TEPU) staged a demonstration here on Friday.
They demanded that the government implement a “time bound promotion policy” conceptualised for Group C and D (non-executive) employees in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited before February 29.
The agitators pointed out that though the management had signed an agreement with the employees’ union on December 9, 2007 that the promotion policy would be implemented fully, the promise was yet to be fulfilled.
According to the employees, the management started showing a “negative attitude towards implementation of the promotion policy citing the financial liability of the BSNL, since signing the accord.
