BIJAPUR: The Karnataka State Women’s University, which started eight postgraduate departments in the current year, is likely to launch five more courses in the next academic year. CoursesV.B. Maganur, in-charge Vice-Chancellor of the university, told The Hindu here on Friday that postgraduate courses in commerce (M.Com.), history, home science, fashion design and interior decoration were being thought of. However, a formal decision is yet to be taken in this regard, he added. ConvocationHe said attempts were on to organise the much delayed convocation ceremony as early as possible. An appointment has been sought from Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who is also Chancellor of the varsity. He is hopeful that it might take place in February. Though two postgraduate batches passed out after the university came into existence in 2003, not even a single convocation ceremony could be held. In all, 57 women’s colleges from the north Karnataka districts are affiliated to the university. Rank list announcedMeanwhile, the university, which had already announced the rank list for bachelor’s degree examinations, did so for postgraduate courses for the year 2006-07, on Friday. The university has assigned five ranks to each course.
