YSR lays stone for Basar IIIT

Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD: Keeping his promise made to the people of Adilabad district for having shifted the Indian Institute of Technology to Medak, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid the foundation for the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at Basar, 30 km from here, on Saturday.

Addressing a public meeting, he said the IIIT would be more useful than the IIT, as many students from backward Adilabad district would benefit. If the IIT had been established here, only a couple of students would have got seats.

The Chief Minister said the IIIT would come up in the 146-acre campus on the Basar-Adilabad road. Admissions to the institute would commence in July.
