In step: Tribals performing at the Girijan Utsav at Shilparamam on Saturday. HYDERABAD: The rich and diverse tribal cultures of the State are on display at the nine-day ‘Girijan Utsav’ being organised by the government at the Shilparamam which was inaugurated on Saturday.Artistes belonging to Koya, Gond, Savara, Lambada and other tribes performed dances. Governor N.D. Tiwari and Ministers D.S. Redya Naik, Ponnala Laxmaiah and officials were present. The festival, which came into inception to coincide with Sankranti last year, will also include exhibitions, screening of documentary films, food courts and display of models of tribal habitations. Mr. Redya Naik said there was need to earn Intellectual Property Rights for some of the technological achievements of tribals in the State, citing the example of the Kollams of Adilabad who had expertise in steel production.
