KOCHI: Port workers have reiterated their demand for filling vacancies, regularisation of employment of contract workers, raising of pension age to 60 along with several other demands before a committee appointed by the Union Ministry of Shipping for looking into these demands. The demands were raised once again on Saturday when P.K. Jain, Managing Director of the Indian Ports Association, heading the committee, visited the Kochi port, said a communication from the Cochin Port Employees’ Organisation here. The committee was appointed after port employees all over the country threatened to go on a strike in September last year.
