Teachers try to disrupt Science Fair valedictory

Staff Reporter

Demand TA,DA for the time spent on organising the fair

SANGAREDDY: Teachers of Medak district who spent considerable time organising the 39 State Science Exhibition here at the MNR Medical College tried to disrupt the valedictory meet demanding TA and DA for the period of time they spent working for the fair.

Teachers who worked under 18 different committees tried to gherao the Regional Joint director (Hyderabad) Satyanarayana Reddy at the entrance of the venue but later tried to enter the auditorium where the valedictory was going on.

The police pushed them away and the meeting which stopped just for moment continued without a hitch. Later MLC Mohan Reddy assured the teachers that he would urge the Collector to look into the matter.

He said that the exhibition faced fund-crunch and the Collector and DEO would sort out the issue. However he pointed out that paying DA for the period they have worked for the exhibition was questionable as generally teachers were not paid DA for such work. However the Minister for Major Industries brushed the teacher’s demand away by saying teachers must be satisfied with the smiling faces of the school children who enjoyed the fair for four days.

Earlier the Minister called upon the students to excel in the field that they like most. District Ccollector B.Venkatesam said that the at least one of the awardees should one day win a Nobel prize. Local legislator T. Jayaprakash Reddy, MNR chairman M.N.Raju were present at the valedictory function. Teacher and student representatives from different districts expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by the Medak district administration.
