RTC defends excess fare

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: APSRTC Managing Director V. Dinesh Reddy has defended the collection of excess fare for special buses during festival season saying the money generated was to meet the additional expenditure being incurred by the corporation.

The corporation would be netting additional revenue of Rs. 3 crore this season by operating over 3,375 special buses to clear the holiday rush. Last year, it operated 2,600-odd special services. Operation of special buses requires additional man power and other logistical arrangements . “The additional revenue will help meet this expenditure,” Mr. Reddy said during an inspection of MGBS on Saturday.
