SIRSI: The three-day “Krishi Mela”, which concluded here on Friday, resolved to urge the State Government to present an agriculture budget on the lines of railway budget. During the “mela”, it was also decided to urge the Government to take steps to mitigate the problems faced by sugarcane growers. The speakers demanded that the interest rate of 11per cent on loans being given for self-employment be reduced to 4 per cent. They said that the interest rebate facility should be extended to all self-help groups on the lines of cooperative loans. They stressed the need for strengthening animal husbandry in the district. The three-day mela was organised by Shri Kshetra Dharmashthal Rural Development Project.
