Aimed at young professionals, students and researchers between 18 and 30 years Policy makers, senior officials, CEOs, experts and Government representatives also to participate NEW DELHI: Making a pitch for participation of the youth in matters related to energy sustainability, the India Energy Congress scheduled for later this month has a platform for the young to contribute their ideas and designs. This year’s edition of the India Energy Congress, which will begin on January 31, will focus on the issue of “Delivering Sustainable Energy Security”. The event has a special youth programme, which is targeted at involving the youth in discussions and planning for sustainable development of energy. Aimed at young professionals, students and researchers between 18 and 30 years, the programme will engage the young in dialogue on energy and issues related to it. “We are looking forward to the youth to share their perspective and get a holistic view of the energy sector,” said J. K. Mehta, general manager of the World Energy Congress-IMC Secretariat. The special programmes for the youth are also aimed at encouraging a debate on energy sustainable development, providing an avenue for innovative and diverse ideas and in helping develop the ability in the young to assess and decided on the role of energy. “The Congress will have participation of policy makers, senior energy sector officials, CEOs, experts and Government representatives who will provide a lateral and vertical view of the energy sector and help us integrate a common synergy in energy. We also have the World Energy Council Asia Regional Meeting scheduled for February 1 that will have participation from 26 countries,” Mr. Mehta said. The CEOs’ conclave will include policy and decision makers and eminent experts who will discuss issues to promote integrated approach to energy, deliberate on key concerns and provide support for drawing up the roadmap for future energy sector. The discussions and round tables that will bring together energy sector officials, managers and government representatives will explore the linkages between the existing and emerging concerns facing the energy sector and promote issues of integrated approach to energy.
