Training guns: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda with Bhajan Lal in happier times. CHANDIGARH: Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, launched a frontal attack on former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal and his younger son Kuldeep Bishnoi, Member of Parliament from Bhiwani, at a well-attended rally organised in Fatehabad on Saturday by Mr. Bhajan Lal’s nephew Dura Ram, MLA and State Parliamentary Secretary. The Congress high command has already initiated action to seek disqualification of Mr. Bhajan Lal and two other MLAs from the Haryana Assembly. Similar action is under way to seek disqualification of Mr. Bishnoi from the Lok Sabha. The Bhajan Lal group had recently floated Haryana Janhit Congress. Encouraged by the attendance at the rally, Mr. Hooda assured full support to Mr. Dura Ram by asserting that he always stood by those who reposed faith in him. He further assured the MLA of a “brighter future” and asserted that he had never opposed him even during the elections. Mr. Hooda asserted that all the schemes being implemented by his regime were meant for upliftment of every section of society including farmers, agriculture labourers, dalits, women, school children and traders in both urban and rural areas. He attacked his predecessors for not creating power-generating capacity though they had ruled for decades. He reiterated his commitment to generate an additional capacity of 5,000 MWs within the next three years. After the completion of ongoing power generating projects, “I may not be able to give round-the-clock supply, but I promise that the supply will be for 20 to 22 hours daily,” he added. Mr. Dura Ram promised full support to the Chief Minister and asserted that the rally had been organised to usher in rapid development in the constituency and the district. Haryana PCC president Phool Chand Mullana claimed that the policies of the State Government were being appreciated all over as these were people-friendly and had ushered in rapid economic and social development.
