Lokesh and Khusbhoo emerge champions

CHENNAI: P. Lokesh and M. Khusbhoo emerged the under-19 boys’ and girls’ winners respectively in the two-day Logic Illa Magic State-level chess tournament for boys and girls (u-7, 9, 11, 13, 19) here recently.

The tournament was sponsored by connextions and kalainar TV logic illa magic programme.

The final placings: Boys: U-7: 1. M. Arvind (9 points); 2. R. Dileep Kumar (7); 3.R. Hari Krishnan (7). U-9: 1. M. Aadhityaa (8); 2. B. Vignesh (8); 3. Anirudh Aiyengar (8). U-11: 1. S. Kaushik (8); 2. M. Siddarth (8); 3. M. Vasantha Ruba Varman (8). U-13: 1. R. Vishnu Sharon (9); 2. Tejas Ravichandran (7.5); 3. C. Vamsi Krishna (7). U-19: 1. P. Lokesh (8); 2. V.A.V. Rajesh (7.5); 3. T.R. Shanmuganath (7).

Girls: U-7: 1. K. Krithigga (7.5); 2. R. Vaishali (6); 3. H.D. Janani (6). U-9: 1. R. Manjula (7.5); 2. N.G. Sneha (7.5); 3. S.P. Rakshitha Shree (6). U-11: 1. U. Ashwini (7); 2. Srija Seshadri (7); 3. V. Harini (6). U-15: 1. J. Saranya (7); 2. N. Hema Priya (6.5); 3. G. Sushmitha (6). U-19: 1. M. Khushboo (6.5); 2. R. Bharathi (6); 3. S. Aarthy Sri (6).

Football trials

The Chennai Football Association will conduct trials to select the district sub-junior team to take part in the State championship. The trials will be held at DBYC, Basin Bridge, on January 21 and 22 (6.30 a.m.). Players born on or after January 1, 1994, are eligible. Age certificate from the principal/ headmaster is required at the time of trials and players will have to undergo to medical examination to assess their age.
