dated January 14, 1958: Small savings scheme

The cine artistes’ cultural small savings show, held at the Brabourne Stadium in Bombay on January 11, has contributed Rs. 50 lakhs to the Small Savings Scheme. This was announced by Bombay’s Finance Minister, Dr. Jivraj N. Mehta, who paid tributes to the film industry for assisting national causes and said that its assistance in raising the amount for small savings was a crowning glory and spoke volumes for the spirit of nationalism that pervaded the film world that was also an important source of mass contact and public influence.
