Modern kitchen for India Reserve Battalion opened

Useful utility: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy inaugurating a steam kitchen for IRB personnel at Police Complex in Gorimedu on Sunday.

PUDUCHERRY: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Sunday inaugurated a modern kitchen for India Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel at the Police Complex in Gorimedu.

The steam kitchen set up at a cost of around Rs 2 lakh was the first one in any of the police mess in the Union Territory, police officials said.

The kitchen was modernised to make cooking easy and also to provide hygienic food. There were a total of 1,000 personnel in the IRB and about 800 of them were staying at the Police Complex, they added.

The amount for setting up the kitchen was given by the Chief Minister from his constituency development fund, they said.

Others who participated at the function included S. Vasudeva Rao, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, B. Srikanth, Senior Superintendent of Police (Crime and Intelligence), and Chhaya Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order).
