Naxalite surrenders

Staff Reporter

Kakinada: P. Chinnabbai alias Ramakrishna, deputy commander of Galikonda platoon of the CPI (Maoist), surrendered before the Superintendent of Police B. Sreenivasulu here on Sunday.

A native of Cheedigunta village of G.K. Veedhi mandal in Visakhapatnam district, Ramakrishna cited family problems as reason for giving up the armed struggle. He also suggested that the increasing pressure from the police made life difficult for him and other members of the proscribed outfit.

Producing Ramakrishna, who is also called ‘RK’, before newsmen, Mr. Sreenivasulu said Ramakrishna joined the revolutionary party in 2002 as a courier and took to weapons sometime later during his stint in the Galikonda dalam. He also worked in Gurthedu dalam and developed acquaintance with some top leaders of the party.
