Kakinada: The district administration is taking up ‘Indiramma Prasthanam’, a month-long special drive aimed at completing the construction of houses under second phase of Indiramma scheme by the end of April, from January 18, according to the District Collector M. Subrahmanyam. In a meeting with engineers of the AP State Housing Corporation (APSHC) here, Subrahmanyam said that 1,48,604 houses were sanctioned in the rural areas and 13,559 in urban areas under Indiramma-II and necessary steps should be taken to expedite the construction, failing which penal action would be taken against those responsible for failure to meet the targets. He ordered village-level action plans to be drafted to get the construction of houses going at a faster pace so that the goals could be met. The process of supply of raw material should be streamlined to enable the beneficiaries to complete their house construction at the earliest. The mandal housing officers to submit day-to-day reports to enable him to take follow-up action, the collector added. APSHC district manager R.V.V. Satyanarayana and other officials were present.
