There is heavy demand for travel in all classes in trains and flights VISAKHAATNAM: Taking advantage of heavy rush of passengers, the bus operators have effected more than 100 per cent increase in the normal fares. A leading private bus operator charged Rs.1,200 for seating in the Volvo bus and Rs.2,000 for sleeper for past few days for travel between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. Enquiries reveal that for those who booked in advance, the fare is Rs.500 to Rs.600 per seat and Rs.1,000 for sleeper. But for those who were trying their luck at the eleventh hour, the amount was double. “I had to come in bus. So I approached the agent and he said this is sort of Tatkal and I had to pay Rs.900 for an ordinary private bus,” said a shipyard employee. Another employee who came to the city from Hyderabad on Sunday said he had to pay Rs.1,200 for a seat in Volvo. The bus operators were telling the passengers that due to deployment of special buses and plying of return trip without anyone, they were charging fares for both sides. There is heavy demand for travel in all classes in trains and flights. Some private flight operators are also charging hefty amount for confirmation.
