Forest officials assaulted

ADILABAD: Three forest officials were beaten up allegedly by timber smugglers from Khanapur localitiy in Adilabad early on Sunday. Chandraiah, assistant beat officer aged 57, Lingam, a watcher of the green force and Lingam another official were beaten up allegeldy by Karim, ‘bagar moonch’ Sattar and Afzal who are known smugglers from Khanapur as they tried to intercept them near Mavala village. The smugglers were carrying illegally felled logs when the officials went there on information. A case was registered and police is searching for the three accused.
