Haryana minister calls to serve humanity

Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Kartar Devi on Sunday called upon the people to help the poor and needy without any self interest as service to humanity is the service to God.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a cloth distribution and free eye check up camp for poor at Geeta Vridhashram and Parmarth Vatika at Bhiwani organised on the occasion of New Year, she also honoured the widows of martyrs with Geetanand Purskar.

Those who were honoured included the widows of Rajpal Singh, resident of Sanga and Narender of Ravaldhi. Check up of as many as 300 people was carried out and clothes and blankets were distributed to over 200 poor people in the camp.

She said that one could attain contentment by sympathising with the woes and sorrows of the people and by mitigating their sufferings.

On this occasion, the organiser of the Parmarth Vatika, Swami Divyanand Bhiksu Maharaj said that the Parmarth ashram had organised free medical camps in the past also and distributed the clothes to poor and needy people every year. PTI
