250 special buses for Pongal

TIRUPUR: Various divisions of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation on Saturday began operating special buses from Tirupur to various destinations to help the migrant workers who have been working in the export city.

According to a senior official, as many as 250 special buses have been operated from Tirupur.

Stating that there was no rush in the eve of Pongal, the official said that the buses would be operated mostly to Tiruchi, Madurai, Theni, Dindigul and Salem, from where a large number of workforce come to Tirupur. The officials said that the turnout was low on the first day. and not as expected by the authorities.

Special buses will be operated for the next four days, which is expected ensure hassle-free travel for the public.

These special buseswould largely help the workforce to go their native for the festival.
