Man held for killing priest

ARIYALUR: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday on the charge of killing the priest of Sri Mariamman Temple at Chockalingapuram near Meensurutti in the district a few days ago.

The accused B. Pannerselvam, of Chockalingapuram, worked in a tea stall at Sethiathope. On information, the police arrested him at Jayamkondam Branch Road.

The temple priest S. Arivazhagan (45), who was sleeping in front of the sanctum sanctorum, was murdered and cash from a ‘hundial’ and brass pot were reported stolen.
