Omprakash qualifies

CHIDAMBARAM: Omprakash Singh of Punjabi University heaved the iron ball to a distance of 17.47m and qualified for the men’s shot put final of the 68th all-India inter-University athletics championship at Annamalai University here on Sunday.

In all, twelve have qualified for the shot put final.

Meanwhile, 13 in the men’s section and 15 in the women’s category booked a place in the 5000m final.

Also 12 in men’s high jump, 13 in women’s discus throw, 12 in women’s triple jump qualified for the final in the respective events on the opening day of the meet. — Sports Reporter
