Tarun Sangha in last four

NEW DELHI: Sudip Banik’s 75th minute strike steered Tarun Sangha to a 2-1 win against Hindustan FC and a place in the semifinals of the Sail-ONGC Delhi Soccer Association’s senior division open club football league championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Sunday.

After several missed opportunities in the second half when forwards Charles Egware and Srikanta Das messed the chances, Tarun Sangha finally found Banik come to its rescue.

Earlier, Prabir Ray had put Sangha ahead in the first minute, which was equalised in the seventh minute.

Last year’s runners-up Indian National FC also confirmed its berth in the last four when it drew 1-1 with City FC.

National FC took the lead in the 44th minute through Trilok Singh Bisht before City found the equaliser, nine minutes from close, through P. K. Thing. — Principal Correspondent
