Delhi triumphs

MANGALORE: Delhi University retained the all-India inter-university women’s tennis title (inter-zone) on Sunday.

Delhi scored a comfortable 2-0 win over Bangalore to win the championship. Sanaa Bhambri beat Asha Nanda Kumar 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, while Parul Goswami beat Akshitha Basavaraj 6-0, 6-1.

In the third place play-off, Punjab beat Osmania 2-0. Neha Singh defeated Preethi Shravan 7-6, 6-0 and Simer downed Rajarajeshwari 6-0, 6-3.
