Dubai: West Indies’s debutant opener Brenton Parchment and South African bowler Dale Steyn were fined for separate ICC Code of Conduct offences during the third and final cricket Test between the two sides in Durban. Parchment was fined 50 per cent of his match fee after being found guilty of “intentionally” running into Steyn, while Steyn himself was docked 10 per cent of his match earnings for showing “disrespect to opposition batsman Marlon Samuels through his physical and verbal actions.” Parchment’s offence fell under 2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct which refers to “inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play.”
Steyn’s was a Level 1 offence and the pacer was charged under the C1 section of the Code of Conduct which deals with breaches relating to the Spirit of Cricket. “Taking everything into consideration and looking at video evidence of the incident I found the player guilty,” Mahanama said. — PTI
