NEW DELHI: A young man along with his two acquaintances have been arrested by the Delhi police on charges of killing his friend as he suspected him of having relations with his girlfriend. In the early hours of Saturday, the police received information about the body of a man lying behind the bushes near Doosra Pushta at Khajoori Khas. The victim had been hit on the head. The body was identified as that of Mahesh Nagar by his brother Mukesh, a resident of Kotla Mubarakpur. The robbery angle was ruled out as the belongings of the victim were found intact. Mahesh worked with the Connaught Place branch of an American fast-food outlet. The police questioned his employees to find when and with whom he was spotted last. His colleagues disclosed that he had left the restaurant along with Rohit Dhingra, Amit and Ashish. Subsequently the police picked up the three for questioning. During interrogation, Rohit allegedly confessed to having masterminded Mahesh’s murder as the latter had developed a liking for the former’s girlfriend. This made Rohit very uncomfortable and he allegedly conspired with his friends Amit and Ashish to get rid of Mahesh. On Friday, they met Mahesh in Connaught Place and then took him to the river bank, an isolated place, on the pretext of drinking beer. Soon, a fight broke out between Rohit and Mahesh over the girl, following which the three accused overpowered Mahesh and hit him on the head with a sharp-edged stone. After making sure that he was dead, they vanished from the scene.
