Sabarimala: Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) president C.K. Guptan has said that the board will move the Kerala High Court against the Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) for violating the contractual obligation to supply 60,000 eco-friendly cans with flip lids on a daily basis during the Sabarimala festival season. Mr. Guptan, accompanied by TDB members P. Narayanan and P.K. Sumathikutty Amma was addressing a press conference at Sabarimala Sannidhanam on Sunday afternoon. He said the SIDCO had violated the agreement signed with the TDB by supplying only 30,000 cans. The TDB chief said the board would also move the State government for blacklisting the SIDCO. Mr. Guptan said the board had also decided to give a wage hike of Rs.20 to the daily wages workers attached to it. He said the total revenue collection at Sabarimala during the annual festival registered a substantial increase against that of the previous year. He said the sale of ‘aravana’ on January 12 alone was 1,88,777 containers of 250 ml besides the sale of 1,583 litres of ‘aravana’ in vessels brought by the devotees. The TDB maintained a buffer stock of 2,30,000 cans of ‘aravana’ as on Sunday evening. The stock of empty eco-friendly cans as on Sunday was two lakh, besides 2,94,830 plastic containers.
