Calicut on course

Tirunelveli: Defending champion Calicut defeated Mumbai 13-12 for its second win in the South West zone inter-university women’s kho-kho tournament at the VOC Stadium, Palayamkottai, on Monday.

Calicut leads table with four points, while Pune has two and Shivaji and Mumbai one each..

The results (league): Mumbai (6+6=12) lost to Calicut (12+1with 7.30 seconds to spare = 13) by one point; Shivaji (3+5 = 8) drew with Pune (4+4 = 8); Calicut (10+12 = 22) bt Shivaji (3+4 = 7) by 15 points; Mumbai (8+4 = 12) drew with Pune (4+8 = 12).

Lechatelier in last four

An opening partnership of 103 between Thirumurugan (63) and Santhosh Gopi (58) helped Lechatelier CC defeat Asian Sports CC by 58 runs and enter the semifinals of the Deepak memorial Trophy District-level Twenty20 cricket tournament at Madurai on Monday.

The scores (quarterfinals): Lechatelier CC 187 for four in 20 overs (Thirumurugan 63, Santhosh Gopi 58) bt Asian Sports CC 129 for nine in 20 overs (Prabakaran four for 19); Arasaradi CC 116 in 19.3 overs (Jeyaprakash 37) bt Majestic CC 46 in 10 overs (Prabakaran three for 0); Olympus CC 170 for five in 20 overs (Dayanidhi 41, V. Srinivasan 42, Jaisankar 40) bt MCHSS 94 in 19 overs; Pykara CC 145 for eight in 20 overs bt Jai Hind CC 140 for eight in 20 overs (Rafik 34).

Shri Renuga in final

Shri Renuga Textiles CC and HDFC Bank CC entered the final of the TDCA-HDFC Bank Trophy district-level cricket tournament at Theni.

The scores (semifinals): Anandam Textiles 79 in 18 overs (Vinodh four for 18) lost to HDFC Bank CC 83 for six in 18 overs; Dharmasena CC 85 in 20 overs lost to Shri Renuga Textiles CC 86 for five in 16.5 overs.
