Manjunath bags gold

CHIDAMBARAM: M.D. Manjunath and Jomeya Thomas won the 5000m gold in the men’s and women’s sections respectively in the 68th all-India inter-university athletics championship at the Annamalai University here on Monday.

The results: Men: 400m hurdles: 1. Jithin Paul (University of Calicut) 52.6s; 2. M.V.S. Prasad (Andhra University) 52.8s; 3. Shijie Vargeese (University of Calicut) 53.1s. 5000m: 1. M.D. Manjunath (Mangalore University) 15:13.6s; 2. Vijay Yadav (VBS Poorvanchal University) 15:13.6s; 3. Ajan Veer Singh (Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University) 15:13.9s. High jump: 1. P.P. Sankar (University of Kerala) 2.01m; 2. L. Yogaraj (Manonmaniam Sundaranar) 1.99m; 3. A. Karthikeyan (Bharathiar University) 1.99m.
