dated January 16, 1958 (there being no issue of the paper dated January 15): Dynamic policy

Prime Minister Nehru, speaking at the opening of the All-India Khadi and Village Industries Exhibition, said in Pragjyotishpur in Assam on January 14 that both small-scale and big industries should grow side by side in India. In this changing world, he said, India’s technique and economic policies could not remain static. These must be changed along with the changing times. Gandhiji, Mr. Nehru said, had drawn up certain broad principles. While the principles were there, the policies were subjected to change along with the change of society. That was the lesson they learnt from history. “We must believe in Yuga dharma and remember that in this changing world, society is also changing. There is no change only in a dead man. But living human beings have got to change with the changing times. Otherwise, they will not be able to keep pace and will become something stagnant”.
