Easy win for MGIT

HYDERABAD: Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (Hyderabad) scored an eight-wicket win over Nizam Engineering College (Nalgonda) in the sixth SR Champions Trophy State-level inter-engineering colleges cricket tournament in Warangal on Monday.

The scores: Holy Mary Institute of Technology (Hyderabad) 132 for eight (Tarun 39, Karthik four for 30) lost to Muffakam Jah EC (Hyderabad) 136 for two (Goutham 45, Abhishek 44); Nizam EC (Nalgonda) 58 lost to MGIT (Hyderabad) 59 for two; TKRCET (Hyderabad) 129 (Hassan 48) bt BITS (Narsampet) 71 (Narender four for 25).

Inter-school chess

Andhra Pradesh Chess Association will organise the Sardar Bhagat Singh birth centenary Trophy for Gurus inter-school chess tournament on January 18 and 19 at Anandnagar Community Hall (Khairtabad) here.

Easy for Mayura CC

Mayura Cricket Club recorded a 98-run win over Arshad Cricket Club to enter the semifinals in the under-11 category of the Charles Trophy cricket tournament for sub-juniors here.

The scores: U-11: Mayura CC 180 for five (Chirag 43, Takhila 43) bt Arshad CC 82 (Teja three for three).
