Ashok, deputy general manager of Indian Oil Corporation has said. During a press conference here on Monday, he said there were thirty stations under the public sector dispensing auto LPG and an equal number owned by private players, in Kerala. The sales of all petroleum products in Kerala registered a growth of 9.41 per cent in the year 2006-07, compared to the figures for the previous year. Public sector companies sold 3.82 million metric-tonnes of petroleum products during the year. The growth during 2006-07 was 8.3 per cent for petrol, 3.2 per cent for diesel and 5.2 per cent for LPG, he said. There was an upward trend. The consumption rates were also increasing, registering a growth of ten per cent on an average, he said. Asked about the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the State, he said negotiations were on and this may be implemented this financial year itself. As far as ethanol-blended petrol was concerned, some more procedural problems had to be gotten over, he said. Asked about Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), he said the early completion of the import terminal in Puthuvype would revolutionise the energy sector in the State.
