BIJAPUR: The BLDE Association sponsored Pa. Gu. Halakatti Research Institute has compiled and published “vachana sahitya”, some of which date back to the 12th century, in a record time of less than three years. Most of the manuscripts were collected by Pa. Gu. Halakatti, popularly known as “Vachana Pithamaha” from various sources during the last century. The institute has now published the collections in 15 volumes that run into over 10,000 pages. Addressing presspersons jointly here on Monday, association president M.B. Patil; secretary G.K. Patil, MLC; and the chairman of the institute S.S. Tambake said that Shivakumar Swamiji of Siddaganaga Math would release the series here on January 30. They said that initially 1,500 sets had been printed, and the price of each set was Rs. 5,000. A discount of Rs. 1,000 would be given on the launch day, they added.
