Jeypore: The district administration has at last accepted Durua tribal community’s demand for recognition as STs. At a function held recently, Kotpad Tahasil Oficer Susanta Kumar Rajguru distributed ST certificates to Durua communities. President of Durua Samaj Pusu Naik, advocate and advisor to Durua Samaj Pankaj Patra, and others attended the function. Durua sub-caste was not in the list of Orissa Schedule Tribe Order 1956 due to a spelling mistake. Hence, the primitive tribe was not able to avail itself ST status whereas the same community was recognised as ST in Chattisgarh.
