JFJ posts win

BANGALORE: JFJ Sports Club came from behind to post a 2-1 win over Veterans FC (Austin Town) in the BDFA conducted Veterans Football tournament here on Monday.

The results: JFJ Sports Club 2 (Ramkumar, Joy Esteibero) bt Veterans FC 1 (B.G. Kariappa); HASC 5 (Stanley William-og, Ashok (2), Chellapathy and Raju Jr.) bt Benson Town SC 5-0.

Mathias and Magizhendan qualify

Young seamers David Mathias and P. Magizhendan qualified for the National final from the preliminary round of the ‘Gatorade Pacers’ contest held here during the weekend.

The duo topped the under-22 section and will now participate in the final at Delhi, where the best fast bowlers would be short-listed for a training stint at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai.

Meanwhile in the under-15 section, P. Prabhakar and Rehan Ali, qualified for specialised training within Bangalore. Karnataka Ranji seamers R. Vinay Kumar and N.C. Aiyappa were the talent-spotters at the Gatorade event.

Twenty20 tournament

Manjunath bags double

M.V. Manjunath won the ‘Karnataka Sri’ and ‘Karnataka Shresht’ titles in the 55th State amateur body-building championship which concluded here recently.

Aiyanna wins title

Aiyanna defeated Prajwal 6-4, 6-4 to win the title in the Kensri Schools tennis tournament here. Earlier in the semifinals, Aiyanna beat Karthik 8-4 and Prajwal humbled Aman Saxena 8-3.
