BELLARY: Senior Janata Dal (Secular) leader N. Thippanna, MLC, has expressed surprise over the statements of the former Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash that he found the atmosphere in the party suffocating and that the attitude of party president H.D. Deve Gowda was autocratic. Mr. Thippanna wanted to know from Mr. Prakash why he did not raise all these issues when he was State unit president of the party or the Deputy Chief Minister. Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Thippanna said Mr. Prakash’s decision to quit the Janata Dal (S) would neither benefit nor affect the party. “I do not think the party will suffer by Mr. Prakash decision ,” he said. Mr. Thippanna, however, advised Mr. Prakash to stick to his principles and values while deciding to join any party. Mr. Thippanna expressed surprised over Mr. Prakash’s plan to join either the Congress or the Bharatiya Janata Party, whose ideologies were diametrically opposite. ‘Image hit’Admitting that the party’s image had been affected over the power transfer issue, Mr. Thippanna said not all Veerashaivas had switched loyalty.
