DAVANGERE: A delegation, led by Abdul Jabbar and Chaman Sab, met the Deputy Commissioner seeking action against president of the State unit of the Sri Rama Sene, Pramod Muthalik, for his alleged provocative speeches. They urged the Deputy Commissioner to bar the entry of Mr. Muthalik into the district. The leaders, in a memorandum, said that the people of Davangere were peace-loving and that there had been no communal disturbances in the city for many years now. The Deputy Commissioner promised them that the speech would be examined and if found provocative, action would be initiated against Mr. Muthalik. Syed Saifulla and Musthak Ahamed were present.
