KOTHAGUDEM: The Singareni Collieries has achieved 101 per cent of its production target for the first nine months of the current financial year, according to the SCCL Director ( Personnel, Administration & Welfare), L. Shashidhar on Monday. Addressing a news conference at the Yellandu Club here, he said the company was poised to exceed its highest-ever annual target of 40.50 million tons well before March next. The coal output from all its opencast and underground mines touched 29.96 million tons as against a target of 29.56 millions tons from April to December last. The productivity for the same period was put at 2.2 million tons. Workers greetedGreeting the Singareni coal miners and employees on the eve of Sankranti, he said that the company remained committed to the welfare of the workmen and their families who had been giving out their best helping to the company to achieve the all-time high production figures this year. The spending of the SCCL towards the various welfare activities was in the order of Rs. 49,820 per employee. He said that there was a marked improvement in the industrial relations in the company over the years. The absenteeism had come down considerably. The relations between the coal workers and the management were cordial. He said that the children of the Singareni employees and workers were pursuing higher education in a big way. A majority of them could join professional courses such as engineer and medicine. Two of them were successful in the civil services examination and joined the Indian administrative services. Many of the Singareni employees had their children working abroad. Some 1,530 employees had applied for passports to visit their sons and daughters working in different countries during the last two years. Some 64 employees of the company had been applying for passports every month. With eleven more new projects coming up, the production levels in the company were expected to touch a new high during 2008-2009. Chief General Managar (personnel), M. Gangireddy, general manager (welfare) and official spokesperson G. Ailaiah and other officials of Corporate Personnel Department were present.
