Two drowned

BHADRACHALAM: Two women from the temple town were drowned in the Godavari river on Monday. The police said Pathapudi Sirisha, 18, and her sister Usha, 16, slipped into the river while bathing at the ghat. They were drowned as the onlookers failed to go to their rescue.

The Sirisha’s husband, Steven, who also slipped into the river was saved by the onlookers. The bodies were retrieved by the police and sent for post-mortem. Sirisha came to her parents along with her husband for the Sankranti festival.
