Haryana to develop five airstrips

CHANDIGARH: In view of increasing expansion of aviation business and entry of many private airlines, the Haryana Civil Aviation Department has decided to develop its five airstrips to make available more facilities for operating and maintaining bigger aircraft in the State.

An official spokesman said here on Monday that airstrips at Narnaul, Hisar, Bhiwani, Karnal and Pinjore would be given out on lease for setting up flying training academies, aircraft maintenance workshops and so on by private companies. Besides, a proposal for making an international cargo airport at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district has also been taken up with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to promote export of processed agri-products from North India, including Haryana.

Three flying training centres of the Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation at Hisar, Karnal and Pinjore are providing flying and gliding training to boys and girls at present for obtaining Private Pilot Licence, Commercial Pilot Licence, Glider Pilot Licence, Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence and Flight Instructor Rating on aircraft.

The spokesman said the airstrips had been provided with pucca runways and navigational aids such as non-directional beacon, and rotating beacon and are being used for the operations of trainer aircraft, VIP aircraft and other outside aircraft.
