MANGALORE: The Mangalore-based Karnataka Bank Ltd. has signed an agreement with Dakshina Kannada Telecom District of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., to accept payment of telephone bills at its 54 branches in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, according to a release from the planning and development department of the bank here on Monday. The payments can be made by cash, local cheques or demand drafts. This pact will facilitate payment of telephone bills before the due date by individuals and corporates. Bills of notified STD/ISD booths, PCOs are outside the purview of the arrangement. All clearing instruments tendered/accepted by the branch should be at least two working days in advance of the “pay-by-date” mentioned in the telephone bill, the release said.
