Cock fight betting: 24 arrested

The Cyberabad police arrested 22 persons on charge of betting on cock fighting at Uppal and L.B. Nagar on Monday. While Rs. 9,080 was seized from 13 persons at Balaji Enclave in Uppal, Rs. 39,000 was seized from nine others at L.B. Nagar. The Jeedimetla police also arrested two persons, Joshi Babu and Pruthvi Raj, on charge of betting on cock fighting at Subhashnagar.

Film writer held

The Uppal police on Monday arrested film writer Palle Venumadhav following a complaint lodged by his wife Lata that he had been harassing her for additional dowry.

The couple was married five years ago and have two children.

Gold chain stolen

A gang of four women took away a gold chain weighing 80 grams after entering a jewellery shop in the guise of customers on Monday at Kukatpally.

According to Balanagar police, the theft came to light after they left the shop without making any purchases.
