Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday set aside a special CBI special court directive to the Central Bureau of Investigation to file a fresh first information report against Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and 13 others in a multicrore fodder scam case. The CBI special court’s order of November 15, 2007, was issued in connection with the case of fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 1.47 crore from the government treasury in the 1990s. CBI judge R.R. Prasad asked the prosecution to file a fresh FIR on the basis of the deposition by an accused-turned-approver Mahendra Prasad (a fodder supplier). “Not proper”The High Court said it was not proper to pass the direction at a stage when already over a hundred witnesses deposed before the lower court. Mr. Lalu Prasad and Bihar politician Jagannath Mishra, who are among the petitioners before the High Court, are facing charges in separate fodder scam cases. — PTI
