Shabir Shah joins Hurriyat

SRINAGAR: Three days after senior separatist Sheikh Abdul Aziz joined the moderate Hurriyat Conference, Democratic Freedom Party chief Shabir Shah followed suit on Monday and vowed to strengthen the camp.Mr. Shah joined the Hurriyat led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at the martyrs’ graveyard at Eidgah. Sitting alongside the Mirwaiz Mr. Shah told a news conference that “we are the heirs of these martyrs.”

The DFP leader appealed all other separatists to forge unity which he said was the need of the hour.

“We are at a critical juncture of freedom struggle. We will swim or sink together. The Mirwaiz is our chairman,” he said.
