Trouble over transportation of sand

MAHABUBNAGAR: At least 15 persons were injured, of which the condition of two persons is stated to be critical when two groups belonging to two different villages clashed over the lifting of sand from a nearby stream at Kothapally village in Utkoor mandal on Monday.

The critically injured persons Bojappa (55) and Narsimlu (45) were shifted to the headquarters hospital at Mahabubnagar.

According to information reaching the district headquarters, the residents of Bijwar, a hamlet of Kothapally village, tried to transport sand in a tractor from the adjacent stream. It was objected to by Kothapally villagers.

After some time, they again came to the stream, this time with four tractors, but Kothapally villagers did not allow them to transport the sand and the issue led to a clash.

A police team led by Narayanpet DSP Harichander, circle inspector Rama Rao and sub-inspector Mahankali rushed to the spot and dispersed the clashing groups.
