Indian Bank enters semifinals

CHENNAI: Indian Bank entered the semifinals with a 3-0 victory over SAI in the quarterfinal of the Don Bosco-Fr. Gerard football tournament at the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Basin Bridge, here on Monday.

Ramesh opened the account in the second minute. Subash Singh (51st) and Nirmal Kumar (78th) completed the tally.

Indian Bank will meet Don Bosco-Annai Youth in the semifinal on Wednesday.

Sunday’s results: RBI 6 (Kuppuraj 2, Johnson, Mathivanan, Mathan, Jeyakumar) bt ICF 5 (Jegan Jr., Ashok Kumar, Venkatesan, Manimaran, Ashok Kumar) in tie-breaker; Don Bosco-Annai Youth 5 (Ashok Kumar, Pavalavannan, Soumick, Ashok Kumar, Pradeep Kumar) bt Chennai Soccer 3 (Ramkumar, Manikandan 2) in tie-breaker.

Easy for Presidency

Presidency defeated Andhra Club by six wickets in the Singaram Trophy inter-club cricket tournament here.

The scores: Andhra Club 109 for nine in 17.5 overs (Nitin 46) lost to Presidency Club 111 for four in 16.4 overs; Andhra Club 90 for seven in 20 overs (Abhinaya 30) lost to Madras Race Club 91 for five in 15.5 overs; Indira Nagar SC 103 for nine in 20 overs lost to Madras Gymkhana 105 for five in 19.2 overs.

V. Darshan (68 Gross) emerged triumphant in the January Monthly Medal golf tournament on Sunday.
