CPI district meet begins

KOCHI: The four-day Ernakulam district convention of the CPI began on Monday. The convention, held once in three years, will elect a new district committee and other functionaries. CPI State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan will open the two-day delegates’ session on Tuesday.

Hundreds of delegates from manadalam committees will attend the meeting. The district has 14 mandalams and one delegate for every 25 mandalam members can attend the district convention.

Mundakkayam Sadasivan, the present district secretary, has already served two three-year terms. The district committee currently has 44 members. The election will be held on Wednesday. The convention will end with a rally and public meeting.

Seminar

A seminar on multinational’s foray into retail trade was held on Monday. Pannian Ravindran, MP, Kamala Sadanandan, Kanam Rajendran and P. Purushothaman are among those attending the convention.
