‘Yathra’ in city today

KOCHI: The Bharat Vikas Yathra, organised by the Confederation of NGOs of the Rural India, reached Ernakulam on Monday. It was flagged off by President Pratibha Patil on November 25 in New Delhi.

The team was given a reception at Muvattupuzha. A street play was staged on the occasion. The team will be in the city on Tuesday.

A reception will be organised by the district administration at the Kakkanad District Panchayat Conference Hall. In the evening, V.R. Krishna Iyer, former judge, Supreme Court, will talk to the team. The High Court junction will be the venue of the street play.

The Yathra team will leave for Aluva on Wednesday and reach Thrissur on Thursday, passing through Puthenvelikkara and Angamaly.

The Yathra’s Kerala leg began on January 2 from Thiruvananthapuram.

It reached here covering Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki.
