Farmers flay government

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Vivasayigal Sangam has accused the government of not taking steps to make the Central experts assess the damage caused to paddy crop in the Union Territory.

In a statement on Monday, secretary of the sangam T. Geethanathan said that though three Central teams visited the flood-hit areas in Tamil Nadu owing to the initiative taken by the State government, the Puducherry government had shown little interest in making the teams assess the damage in Puducherry and Karaikal regions, he said.
